Periodontal (Gum) Disease Treatment – Hammonton, NJ

Protect the Foundation of Your Smile

Just like the place you live, your smile has a foundation. The teeth are actually supported by both the gums and the underlying jawbone, but if a patient doesn’t consistently brush and floss, this area of the mouth can easily develop an infection. This is called periodontal (gum) disease, and while early symptoms are minor (including swelling, redness, and sensitivity), it’s actually the #1 cause of adult tooth loss in the U.S. At the Center for Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry, our team can tackle periodontal disease head-on, literally protecting your smile from the roots up by using an assortment of advanced treatments.

Why Choose Center for Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry for Periodontal (Gum) Disease Treatment?

  • Periodontal exams performed at every checkup
  • Special cleanings that remove infection at the source
  • Fast, painless & effective laser gum therapy

Scaling & Root Planing

After diagnosing a patient with periodontal disease, the first treatment we’ll use to eliminate it will be scaling and root planing. This two-part treatment is designed to remove all of the harmful plaque and tartar buildup below the gum line (scaling) and then smooth out the roots of the teeth so plaque won’t gather on them in the future (root planing). It’s like a regular dental cleaning that’s solely focused on the gum line, and it can stop an ongoing infection as well as prevent others from developing down the road.

Laser Gum Treatments

Dental lasers give our team the ability to quickly and easily perform a variety of gum treatments while keeping a patient completely comfortable. We can target and remove harmful bacteria, reshape the gum line to make the teeth appear longer, and even remove fibromas, all without using a scalpel or sutures. Because the instrument emits almost no heat, sound, or vibration, most patients say they barely feel anything during a laser procedure.
